May 2023, Bra (IT)
Giro! A shooting for a local sponsor looking to tell the atmosphere, the folklore, the party around this tappa, and especially at the starting point.
What was good, or easy
As always, the party makes it fun to shoot : colors, people, anything! We also had time to a recon before the start of the event, so we spotted a few interesting spots.
What was bad, or hard
Unfortunately, a few spots we were looking for had been closed sometime between our recon and the event, so that was a waste of time. Plus, it wasn’t easy to look for another spot since the crowd made every movement hard and slow. I had to think fast to reduce the need of changing spot.
Any surprise, good or bad
It was the perfect occasion to test a wide-angle lens, the Lumix 8-18 f2.8-4. Nice, tough, and very versatile in some context, although not easy to use due to the extreme distortion. A lot of fun with that, and it will be my last lens to complete the kit (either the Lumix 8-18 or the Zuiko 8-25 F4, if I’ll have the chance to test it).
A few numbers
Pictures shot: 900.
Final output: the first selection has been of 120 pictures, the final one between 15 and 25.
Equipment: The usual. Olympus Em1mkII, Em1mkIII. Zuiko 12–40 f2.8, Lumix 35–100 F2.8, Zuiko 17 f1.2. Plus a borrowed Lumix 8–18 f2.8–4 for test.
