Gravel and ultra reportage

Ultracycling implies very specific dynamics: solitude, despair, challenging situations, but also companionship, accomplishment, and sheer joy. Plus, a crazy logistics with no breaks for days. Only knowing the discipline firsthand lets you capture interesting moments and get close enough to riders to tell their stories, while prioritizing the stories and not wasting resources. Covering various events across Europe also means getting to know many riders closely, following their trajectories over the years — which builds a depth of narrative very hard to achieve otherwise.

VIA Race chapter I, II

Photographer (2024), team leader (2025)

A 4.000km unsupported, free-routing race across Europe, covered with Marco and Francesco on a crazy van.

Three Peaks Bike Race

Photographer @Colle delle Finestre

A classic unsupported race with three famous climbs in the Alps, from Vienna to Nice (or Barcelona). in 2025 I covered the last peak, Col delle Finestre, for three days and three nights, getting to know the local community of shepherds and refuge managers. In 2026, I covered both Mangart Saddle (peak 1, Slovenia) and Col de la Loze (peak 3, France).

Zuri Escape / The Cake Movement

Photographer

400km and 10,000m of elevation gain with two checkpoints: a ‘classic’ ultracycling format, but with a Cake Movement twist. Three days of work with a car and an electric bike, coordinating with Jennifer (photo) and Christian (video). The third project of a solid collaboration with Dominik, Fabian, and Stefano. In 2026, besides Backyard Gravel, we will work together also for Pain au Chocolat, the new road race format.

Upcycle trail weekend

Photographer (riding reportage + saturday fair, since)

A traditional autumn Italian event. Saturday reportage (indoor) and a pedaled reportage of Sunday’s social ride. This too is a well-established collaboration with this renowned hub of cycling culture.

Turin Hills, 03/25

Photographer, media coordination

An event but also a celebration. And a lot of mud. The first edition of an ambitious yet relaxed project, whose permanent route was named ‘best overnight route‘ on bikepacking.com, by both the jury and the public.

everything else

Photographer (and writer) in various forms.

Not everything is mentioned here: Strade Bianche in Siena, Velocafé Gravel Race (Bellinzona, CH), Ingorda, Gravelness69, XC Torre Canavese, Gravel Gourmet. Plus, personal projects (Alternative Altitude Alps; Cold Chains; and so on.)

Planning is key to improvise
The event itself is just the moment of action, the classic tip of the iceberg. The key is all the preparation work that happens beforehand. When it's done carefully, it allows you to handle all the unexpected issues of a gravel event or an ultra race without any problems.
Tips, gear, inspiration
Riding reportage
If traditional coverage is horizontal, the pedaled kind is vertical: an adventure experienced from start to finish, with unparalleled continuity. It's still the story of the other participants, who meet each other (or chase each other, or wait for each other) along the route; but with a much stronger narrative coherence. Or, is the perfect way to tell the story of a territory.

Brand and product storytelling

Giordano Bruno famously defined the hand as the “organ of organs” — not just a tool among tools, but the one instrument through which the mind reaches out and actually becomes something in the world. An idea stays an idea until a hand builds it.

That’s the thought I keep coming back to whenever I’m asked to shoot a product, artisan or corporate alike: the object in front of me isn’t really the subject. It’s evidence — of a problem found, and of all the iterations an idea went through to solve it.

I don’t come from the studio, and I’ve made peace with that — because the kind of product storytelling I actually care about doesn’t happen in a studio at all. Every product has features, yes. But every product is born to solve a problem, to make life a little easier. That’s the story I like to tell.

Instead of isolating a product from its context, I do the opposite: I show how it works in the hands of the person using it, and how it came to take precisely this shape in the maker’s mind. Strip away the people who made it and the people who use it, and a product is just an object among objects.

WildTee at Monterosa Skyrunning, with @Solo Productions team

Photographer

A special event related to the Monterosa Skyrunning race: the very founders of the discipline, now in their silver age, meet once more to climb all the way from Alagna to Capanna Margherita: their body changed, yet the mountain and the glaciers changed even more dramatically; what about their spirit?

With Solo Production team, specialised in outdoor storytelling, we covered (video, photo, writing) the whole day at all altutides, on behalf of WildTee technical sponsor.

Sofiane Sehili for PEdALED and Fizik (12/25)

Photographer, writer (2025)

In July 2025, totally by chance, I followed Sofiane around the Po Valley, shooting from afternoon to evening together with my friends and colleagues Matteo and Alberto.
Following his detention in Russia, those photos went around the world (The Athletic/NYT, Der Spiegel).

With Pedaled and Fizik we decided to go to his home and interview him to understand how such an adventure changes a professional’s perspective. Simultaneously, we documented some pieces from the Odyssey collection by the prestigious Veneto brand.

Fratelli Industries, wheelbuilders

From concept to editing, 2025

How do you create visuals of a company that’s already existed for a while, but wants to step out of the shadows as a new brand?
By telling the story of that new brand, and the story of the people who make it up. In particular the wheelbuilders, figures halfway between artist and craftsman who select components and assemble them with expertise. And who ride to put their own work to the test. In this case, Andrea Reale of Foehn Components.
Starting from the material conditions and logistical constraints, we optimize the resources available to tell the stories we love. A light and discreet approach, just like the Enduro trails on Mt. San Giorgio.

Promoting a tour experience or a territory is tricky — it easily becomes a flattened message: come visit, it’s nice. So vague and universal that it becomes empty and uninteresting, adressed to a general public that doesn’t really exist.

The solution is to craft a narrative – both visual and textual – that can “hook” a specific target public with plausible experiences. “What kind of adventure should I expect if I decide to explore that part of the world?”

Then comes the question of how to achieve the task. My solution is based upon a balance: on one side, careful research into the land and the goals of the client; on the other side, a real, in-the-field experience, to find these hooks and to experience directly these plausible adventures. True to a reportage approach, this is a delicate mixture of planning ahead and improvising according to what the day offers.

Fairs and events

Cycling lives in many places. Institutional fairs are where you document new trends in tourism, technology, and urban mobility; social events are about community-building. Fairs and festivals, though, often blend both — and telling the right story means understanding that blend.

Fiera del Cicloturismo

Photo coverage, since 2023

Fiera del Cicloturismo is the main Italian event related to cycle tourism: tour operators, regional stakeholders, and institutions from Italy and Europe all meet during this 3-days event.

Ritmo Tuscany bike festival

Photo coverage and riding reportage, 2024 and 2025

A very chill festival – but also a fast-growing one – with talks, workshops, and social rides. All this in a beautiful context, between the Pineta natural park and the legendary tapas bar Olé

Bike Experience

Torino, Giaveno, Val Pellice, dal 2020

A series of local festivals related to the region and to its mountains. Also, one of my first gigs, both solo and with a team.
